What is Geroscience?

Geroscience refers to an interdisciplinary field that seeks to understand the biological mechanisms of aging and how they contribute to age-related diseases and conditions. The core idea behind geroscience is that aging itself is the primary risk factor for many chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders. By studying the biology of aging, researchers in geroscience aim to identify ways to slow down or even reverse aspects of aging, with the goal of extending healthy lifespan (also called "healthspan") and improving the quality of life for older adults.
